The Cellier des Princes, with its 200 families of wine growers and employees, is the only producers group in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Anchored in the cultural and economic history of Courthézon since 1925, the Cellier des Princes is located on its current site since 1965.
In 2012, during the construction of new homes in La Barrade, an agreement was reached with the Municipality of Courthézon in order to respect a non-constructible area, called “buffer zone”, between the cellar and the dwellings.
Following the recent change of the Local Urbanism Plan, this area, exploited partly by a winegrower, classified in Côtes-du-Rhône and Côtes- du-Rhône Villages, should become an urbanizable zone according to this new LUP.
We do not accept this change, which would cause problems of neighborhood: nuisances (sound and olfactory), risk of accidents related to traffic during the harvest … These problems of neighborhood would have a direct impact on the good functioning of our cooperative cellar, and could threaten its durability.
We ask for the respect of a 100m buffer zone between the Cellier des Princes and the new constructions of La Barrade. This buffer zone will have to be mentioned in the new PLU in agricultural zone, as agreed until now.
